Em combines precocious humor with art that captures the serious endeavor of growing into a fully-formed human while toddling forward at an off-balance run. Em writes and illustrates stories that support growth through page-turning wonder and a dash of dry wit, and creates through the eyes of her inner four-year-old—with whimsy, big emotions, and a winking-but-unwavering trust in young readers and their grown-ups.

Em grew up in Spokane, WA, and lives in Tucson, AZ with her husband, two dogs, a cat, and a desert tortoise named Tofu. After attending Middlebury College in Vermont and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she spent a decade in the toy and game industry, creating tabletop games with licenses including Discovery, Scholastic, Sesame Street, and Warner Bros.
